Dry conditions and increased demand have forced Council to move to Alert 3 this Friday, only 11 days since water alert level 1 was put in place.

Water restrictions have started in Waipā with Te Awamutu, Pirongia, Kaipaki, Ohaupo and surrounds moving to Alert Level 1 on 20 January.

Over the past month, despite some rain, there has been a significant increase in water demand due to the warmer weather.

Summer is officially here so it’s time to start thinking about how much water we use. While we aren’t at water alert levels yet, it’s not far away if we keep using the amount we are.

Waipa District Council has lifted all water restrictions across the district, effective immediately.

This is the earliest Council has ever lifted water restrictions.
