Water restrictions have been lifted across Hamilton today.

A decrease in the amount of water being consumed and wet weather forecasted for the coming week has seen the city's water alert level drop back to Water Alert Level 1.

Hamilton City Council is asking residents to cut back on non-essential water use to reduce the need for additional water restrictions.

Warm weather and increasing water demand has today prompted Hamilton City Council to further conserve water by moving to Alert Level 2.

Hamilton, Waikato and Waipa are now all on Water Alert Level 1.

The move to Water Alert Level 1 was triggered by a significant increase in water consumption across the region.
